Your assignment is to watch a film of your choosing and then write a 2-3 page paper in which you relate the themes and issues raised in your film to one of the authors we have studied during this class. In writing your essay, you should pay particular attention to the end of the film as this is often the point where the filmmakers most clearly present their own philosophical position. A successful essay will do the following:
You may not write about a film we saw in class. And you may not write about, The Matrix Trilogy, Inception, or Apocalypto. Your paper should be typed, double-spaced in 10-12 point legible font with 1" margins. The paper is due on the last day of class, Thursday, July 19. In addition to your final draft you must bring 2 copies of your paper to class on Tuesday, July 17 for in-class peer editing. Though these rough drafts will not be graded, failure to bring them to class for peer editing will result in an F on this assignment. |
