For the Final, you should be able to perform the following tasks:
  • You should be able to articulate the three Foundational Axioms of Science
  • You should be able to describe and provide examples of the three Methods of Scientific Research
  • You should be able to explain the five criteria that help us decide between competing hypotheses.
  • You should be able to explain the four components of the SEARCH method for evaluating claims.
  • You should be able to explain what the theory of evolution states, including the five components of the theory discussed in class.
  • You should be able to explain what Intelligent Design is.
  • You should be able to explain the  arguments in support of Intelligent Design discussed in class.
  • You should be able to explain the  arguments in support of Evolution discussed in class.
  • You should be able to describe the Standard Model of the Media.
  • You should be able to Describe the Alternative Model of Democracy.
  • You should be able to explain the five filters that make up the Propaganda Model of Media.
  • You should be able to define and give examples of  Mainstream and Alternative Media and explain some of the issues that arise in assessing the credibility of them.
Lastly, you should be prepared to write a short essay in which you discuss how the film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed deals with issues of science. In addition, you should be able to describe three fallacies committed in the film.
